I love big hair! I was looking at some hair styles for the upcoming wedding, and haven't really decided how I am going to style it. First I have to figure out what I am going to wear. My usual hair style is teasing the hair on top (crown) use a heavy duty hairspray (aqua net) comb it back and put it in a high ponytail like the woman in these pics. Like I said I love big hair.

100th Post!

This is my 100Th post! Another on of my favorite blogs to visit is inspireco.blogspot.com she has this series of Inspired Ideas and I came across this really cute wreath "Cute as a button wreath" appropriately named. And I started on it today. I picked my fabrics, fused, cut and sewed. I just need to get a foam wreath and glue it all together, its super easy to make and I got this far in about an hour.

I came across this blog/website pinkcakebox.com and saw this amazing cake! Yes its a cake!! I love dress forms and have been wanting one for the longest time but they are very expensive. Isn't it just gorgeous.

Wow, There have been three tornado's in my town!! Tornado's in CALIFORNIA! I was stuck in traffic coming home because the tornado knocked a big rig over and laid across all three lanes, and a train that runs parallel to the freeway was knocked over half way onto it. This is crazy weather, Monday was almost 100 degrees and now we have snow and tornado's. This pic if from my local paper of one of the twisters in town.

This tag is going to go on the towel cake I will make for my sister in-law. Its in the colors of the towels she picked out. I made a copy of a photo we had of them, and painted this sticker I had gold (I was going for a antiqued look) and on the back of the tag is a little quote :) "Love is the key to happiness".

I wanted to make something patriotic for Memorial Day/ 4Th of July to put on my front door, and this is what I came up with. I had these wooden stars and a white wreath and painted the stars red,white,blue, and added glitter, I finished it off with a red bow. Not bad for about an hour and a half's work.

Wow was it a hot one today! Andrew and I just got back from Disneyland and thought I would share some pics. I love the beautiful vignettes they have in their shop windows. here are just a few. Here is a pic of Andrew and I before we went in the park. We had a great time, the only bummer is he lost his prescription sunglasses on Indiana Jones (he kept them on his head thinking they would stay on :()

I will be attending a wedding in July and need to buy something to wear. The actual ceremony is in a church, but the reception is going to be in their back yard. I have been looking up online on proper things to wear to a summer wedding that is outside and i have come up with these basic Do's. Light weight and colorful! Now this is a little hard for me being a plus size girl and practically living in the color black, and do not like to wear skirts or dresses AT ALL!!, but I do want to look nice, so I did manage to find a dress that I do like and it comes in a variety of colors. The dress is called "The Perfect Dress". These are my options, a purple, olive and a garnet.

So my future sister in-law is having her bridal shower on June 7Th. I was trying to think of a cute and creative gift for her, last night I looked over her registry and came up with a towel cake! I love to make diaper cakes, and I remember seeing a cake made out of towels to look like a wedding cake. Luckily she had towels on her registry and I hurried to Bed, Bath & Beyond and snatched them up! I was looking up some examples and came across this cute mini towel dessert. Don't you hate after talking on your cell and you get the screen all greasy with your face! Not anymore!!Its cute and functional. www.strapya-world.com

Today was 50% off EVERYTHING at my thrift store!! I went after work and this is what I came home with. 3 pink shelves for $2.50 don't they look great on my peg board! I used long peg hooks and just laid it right on top,it works great. I found this adorable plaster picture of a little birdie. Its the prettiest shade of dark teal for $1.75( I have a growing collection of plaster pictures ;)

Every time summer approaches I get the itch to lighten up my hair, then darken it again in fall/winter. I want a chocolate/honey color similar to these pictures. Currently my hair is black ( its natural color) I hate it when hair dressers say it is impossible to lighten my hair (it will look orange/brassy) like in the pictures, but why is it so easy for the stars to do it!!! We don't have the kind of salons that they have in L.A but shouldn't they be able to do it, at a price of course!

So here are some of my finds from my Tuesday romp at the thrift store. This ADORABLE cake stand in the shape of a strawberry short cake, doesn't it look real!! It needs a good cleaning but I just love it ($6.95 what a deal) An look at this bright and sunny bird house ($4.65 its brand new) At this gorgeous mirror ($3.00 WOW) I definitely want to paint it white!

I had another day off due to situations out of my hands. So, I decided to hit the thrift store (OMG did I find some good stuff) but I will save it for tomorrows post :) After I came home I was going back and forth from my craft room to the living room, getting restless I decided to take on the big task that was finish painting my peg board, and clearing the floor, and donating the things I can live without. After about 2 hrs I managed to get it all done (pat on back) :) This means I deserve something new for my room, a light fixture. I had my eye on this but don't know how it will work since its a plug in :/ urbanoutfitters.com

I thought I would share some of my pictures of Disneyland. I will be going on Monday 5-19-08 with my kids from work. I get in free and get paid the whole day!! I got my guy's ticket for only $48!! What a deal :) We both love Disneyland, we go about 2 to 3 times a year. My absolute favorite ride is the Haunted House, and especially when they decorate it up as Nightmare Before Christmas!!! Ah I feel like a little girl every time I go :)

I had the day off work today and decided to hit up one of my regularly visited thrift stores. I must say I had the ultimate find today! A beautiful yo-yo quilt/blanket. I spotted it from across the store, and immediately went to it. I took it out of the plastic bag it was in and gently looked over it. A few yo-yos are hanging on by a thread (literally). As I was looking it over I noticed a woman following me. At the register she struck up a conversation and she told me she was waiting for me to set it down so she could snatch it up :) Not a chance I said !! I had about 2 other woman commenting on what a good find I had. I know!!! Don't know when it was made but I did a little research and it looks like it might have been done around the 30's/40's.

Here are more treasures of mine that I barely got pictures of. I plan to keep this hex sign, I love the bright colors.
this design features a large, red "picture frame" heart proclaiming the house blessing. Decorative German lettering was also used. The Distelfink bird, perched on the heart, provides the home with a generous measure of happiness and good fortune. Flowers and greens ensure the home is filled with life and vitality. "Bless This House" is the major them of this design.
This pink purse basket is very sweet, I have my hankies stored in it. An this shelf can be used to hold a collection of stamps in it, don't know if I want to paint it or keep it the dark wood.
